Featherstone, New Zealand--Filming on the sequel to Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ was unexpectedly halted today when several actors suffered severe burns and had to be rushed to the hospital, sources say. The film, titled The Passion of the Church, focuses on the lives of the two influential leaders of the early Church. After considering the success of casting Jim Caviezel in The Passion of the Christ, the producers decided to cast two more low level Hispanic comedians as the main characters. Carlos Mencia and George Lopez have been cast as Peter and Paul.
The accident occured a little before noon on Thursday. According to sources, actors were shooting a scene about the persecution of the early Christians. In this particular scene, the Roman emperor had ordered that early Christians be dipped in wax and burned alive. Apparently, while filming, Mel Gibson was so moved with emotion that he lit the bodies on fire himself. Unfortunately, mannequins were supposed to replace the actors before they filmed the actual fire. The producers have declined to comment on the identity or condition of the injured actors. The film has been scheduled to be released to theaters on this May 26, exactly 40 days after Easter. No word yet on whether the release date will be pushed back.

I can't wait for this movie. It's going to be so interesting—especially when he gets to the part where the Catholics take up the persecution. I'm smelling a conflict of interest that might compromise the integrity of the plot. He could just follow the pattern he began in Passion of the Christ and throw random extra-biblical Catholic scenes and demonic images into the parts that seem to disparage Catholic church teachings.
Dude, that was not Jim Caviezel who played Jesus in the Passion; it was Johny Damon, CF for the New York Yankees (formerly Boston Red Sox). By the way, ol' Jimmy does well in "High Crimes" with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, but you forget he's in it becuse Morgan Freeman's voice is so mezmorizing. Oh yeah, and Ashley Judd too, she's not bad.
Slim, the Johnny Damon comment was the funniest thing I have ever read. I may have to stop blogging and/or making jokes forever, because I will never say anything that funny.
